Number of unemployed slightly up

In January, 368 thousand people were unemployed. That amounts to 3.6 per cent of the labour force. The number of unemployed rose by an average of 2 thousand per month over the past three months. This slight increase was not because more people lost their jobs, but because more people started looking for work.
